Artisan Bread in a Day
This hands-on course is aimed at anyone who has some experience of baking bread but wants to learn more and raise the level of their understanding. Discover how to bake breads with a wild yeast sour dough and enriched yeast doughs.
You will learn about wild yeast and the science of long fermentation and will make and learn how to care for your own sour dough starter. You will learn the techniques of an artisan baker and practise mixing, proving and baking to discover how to create different flavours and textures to achieve the perfect crust and crumb. You will make a range of loaves including proper baguettes and fougasse to take home and show off to family and friends!
As well as sourdough baking we will look at enriched doughs to make brioche and Jewish plaited Challah.
You will enjoy a delicious lunch showcasing different styles of bread including those you have made.
You will take home some of the breads you have made as well as some recipes and resources to continue baking at home. Numbers will be limited to 8 people, so we able to work with each of you individually. You will leave with your loaves, a pot of sourdough and a lot of artisan bread making skills that you will be able to put into practice at home.
