Welcome to our May newsletter
We've enjoyed the most amazing weather in Suffolk this last month and pundits are suggesting that Suffolk is going to be the place to holiday this summer. We hope you'll join us for a Food Safari event while you are here and if you are looking for somewhere to stay we've got some great recommendations.
Read on for some great special offers on May events!
Free Range Pig in a Day - 20% off
We've got a few places left on Free Range Pig in a Day on Saturday May 16th. We're offering newsletter readers 20% off the full price. The day will take us from 'field to fork' starting with a farm walk and tractor & trailor ride around award-winning Blythburgh Free Range Pork to meet the pigs and learn how they are reared.
We'll return to our base The Anchor at Walberswick for a pork butchery workshop and to make our own sausages and charcuterie, wrapping up the day with a relaxed pork feast with hand-picked beers and wine to match.
Free Range Pork in a Day will run on Saturday 16 May and Sunday 11 October at The Anchor, Walberswick, near Southwold, Suffolk. £120/person or £200/couple with the 20% discount. Click here for full details.
Wild Food in a Day
I've just returned from a fascinating morning foraging at Henham Park with Jacky Sutton-Adam, Food Safari's wild foodie. Jacky and I went to see what we could find for Wild Food in a Day on Saturday 6th June. We found plenty of nettles and dandelions which though common are amongst the most delicious, as well as more unusual things like hedge mint and alexanders. Read about our visit on our blog or if you want to have a go at a bit of foraging join Jacky on June 6th. We'll take our finds back to The Anchor for a well-earned wild food lunch.
Wild Food in a Day, Saturday 6th June, Henham Park with lunch at The Anchor at Walberswick. £75 per person. Book two places and we'll give you a third. Full details on our web site.
Get behind-the-scenes at a Suffolk smokehouse

Pinney's of Orford is a traditional smokehouse preparing delicious salmon, mackerel, and eel over whole oak logs. Learn how the fish are smoked and visit the oysterbeds on a tour to celebrate Pinney's 50th anniversary.
We’re offering both a half day and a full day event. The full day features a boat trip in search of lobsters, crab and other seafood. Both events will end with a seafood feast at the celebrated Butley Orford Oysterage. Visit our web site for full details.
Half-day smokehouse tour and lunch - 30th May £45/person
Full-day fishing trip, tour and lunch - 27th June - £150/person or £250/couple. Book before May 23rd for a 20% early booking discount.
