Wild Food in a Day
Date: Saturday 9 October, Saturday 23 October
Venue: Henham Park, Suffolk

Wild Food in a Day is all about identifying, gathering and cooking wild food and of course in October our interest is mushrooms. We will be targeting the often abundant and delicious varieties of fungi offered up, for free, in the forests and fields during October. This is a great introduction to mushroom foraging for serious foodies; we will focus on what is good for the pot!
The day begins with a forage at the beautiful Henham Park, a private estate near Southwold, where we can access woodland, field and hedgerows.
You will be led by members expert guides Valerie Jordan and Jacky Sutton-Adam. Valerie is our wild food and mushroom expert and together with her late husband, founded the Tasty Mushroom Partnership. Jacky has been fascinated by wild food since she was a child and after taking part in many of Ray Mears bushcraft courses, has started sharing her knowledge with others. Jacky will also help us identify other wild foods Jacky and enlighten us with some historical and medicinal facts about plants.
You will learn how to safely identify, pick and prepare fungi with pleasure and confidence.
We will then return to The Anchor at Walberswick to talk about varieties gathered that morning both edible and poisonous, you will then be served a foragers lunch - based around the edible mushrooms, of course - but also the best local and seasonal produce.
